Colonel Vũ Thị Hồng, a resilient and compassionate figure, has left an indelible mark on Vietnam's literary and military landscapes. Her recent memoir, 'Touching Memories', offers a poignant glimpse into the struggles and sacrifices of soldiers in the Central region during the war. Hồng's journey began in 1967 when she joined the battlefield after losing her father in a US bombing raid. She crossed the Trường Sơn mountain range with three friends, demonstrating the resilience that would define her career. From 1972 to 1975, she worked as a reporter for the Liberation Army's Literature and Arts Magazine in Army Zone 5, chronicling the war's realities while staying ready to take up arms.

In 1993, Hồng was appointed as the first Head of the Army Women's Committee. During her tenure, she focused on improving conditions for soldiers' children and mothers, embodying her compassionate nature. After her tenure, she worked at the Army Publishing House from 1976 to 1992, editing nearly 160 books by emerging war writers, fostering a new generation of voices.

Hồng's influence extends beyond her literary and military contributions. She encourages writers to approach their craft with sincerity and courage, and soldiers to live with responsibility and love. Her memoir serves as a reminder of the past, urging the younger generation to reflect on their actions towards the Motherland.
