Unveiling of a novel T-shirt by the Benidorm breast cancer advocacy group
New Charity T-Shirt Launched by Anémona Marina Baixa for Breast and Gynecological Cancer Awareness
Anémona Marina Baixa, a self-help group for women affected by breast and gynecological cancer in Benidorm and the surrounding areas, has unveiled a new charity T-shirt to support their fundraising efforts.
The T-shirt, designed by Mari Carmen Zaragoza, features a simple and symbolic design, including an outline of Benidorm's island, flowing lines representing the sea, and the international pink ribbon symbolizing breast cancer awareness. The group's name "Anémona" is styled uniquely across the top with the two 'A's at the shoulder line.
Group president María Botella introduced the new design at a press conference held at El Torrejó. Local councillors Ángela Zaragozí (equality) and Javier Jordá (sports) attended the event and expressed the council's full support for the cause.
Botella emphasized the importance of selling as many T-shirts as possible to raise funds, with 20% of all proceeds from the T-shirt sales going directly to Geicam, a leading breast cancer research organization in Spain[2]. She specifically thanked those who buy the T-shirt, participate in events, and spread the word.
The T-shirt is priced at €12 and is available from the Anémona headquarters on Calle La Biga. It will also be sold at the group's upcoming events, including the charity walk on October 26, coinciding with International Breast Cancer Awareness Day. This year, the charity walk will take place as part of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Day events.
The funds raised will be used to support a wide range of services for women currently facing breast or gynaecological cancer. These services include therapy sessions and one-on-one guidance. Botella highlighted the dependence of many services on community support.
Botella also thanked every woman ensuring the T-shirts reach every corner, as well as several departments, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters involved. She expressed her gratitude for the continued support and encouragement from the community.
The T-shirt sales will continue to be available from the Anémona headquarters on Calle La Biga and at the group's upcoming events. For the first time, a portion of the funds will be contributed to breast cancer research, making this an even more significant initiative in the fight against breast and gynecological cancer.
