In a bid to cater to health-conscious consumers, Coca-Cola is set to launch a new version of its iconic soda, featuring U.S. cane sugar and prebiotic fiber. The new drink, set to debut online this fall and hit retail stores in early 2026, will mark the first significant change to the Coca-Cola recipe in over two decades.

Unlike its original counterpart, the new Coca-Cola version will replace high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar, aligning with consumer demand for ingredient transparency and perceived health benefits. The exact calorie and sugar content of the new soda have not been disclosed, but it is known that the drink will contain 5g of sugar and 30 calories per can.

In contrast, PepsiCo is also launching a prebiotic cola, boasting 3 grams of prebiotic fiber per can, 5 grams of cane sugar, and 30 calories per can. This version will also be free of artificial sweeteners. Both drinks will be available in single 355ml cans and packs of eight, and will launch online this fall and in stores early next year.
