Unraveling the saga of the Medicaid millionaire swindle: a flashy Lamborghini, extravagant jewelry, and unbridled access to free healthcare services
Louisiana Woman Arrested for Medicaid Fraud
Candace M. Taylor, a 35-year-old resident of Louisiana, was arrested on July 28, 2025, for Medicaid fraud. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation accused Taylor of underreporting her income to qualify for Medicaid benefits while purchasing luxury items such as a $130,000 Lamborghini and undergoing plastic surgery.
The investigation into Taylor's Medicaid fraud began after the state's Department of Health alerted the Justice Department's Office of Investigations. Initially, Taylor applied for Medicaid in May 2019 under the alias "Candace Sailor," listing low bi-weekly income and no dependents, which was denied. She reapplied in 2020 with similar misrepresentations.
Investigations uncovered that Taylor owns six companies with significant revenue. Between January 2020 and December 2024, her businesses generated over $9.5 million in income. Taylor's bank account had multiple six-figure cash withdrawals that funded purchases of properties, plastic surgery, high-end jewelry, and luxury services. During the same period, her accounts showed transactions for expensive cars, jewelry, and plastic surgeries.
One of the significant transactions was a bank transfer of $100,000 to Tactical Fleet, a luxury car dealership, followed by a debit card transaction of $13,000 for the purchase of the Lamborghini Urus. Taylor also made payments totaling $45,086.65 to Audi Finance between June 3, 2021, and December 31, 2024.
Taylor's financial records revealed transfers between personal and business accounts exceeding Medicaid eligibility thresholds. These findings led to a formal complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health and her subsequent arrest for Medicaid Recipient Fraud.
During her Medicaid applications, Taylor claimed to have limited income. However, tax records showed she had enough money to cover her medical expenses and more. Investigators also discovered social media posts on Facebook and Instagram, showcasing Taylor's lavish lifestyle during the same period.
The case highlights abuse of the Medicaid system by concealing substantial business income and assets, while simultaneously receiving government aid intended for low-income recipients. Taylor’s use of an alias and inconsistent reporting of dependents also played a role in the fraud allegations.
Taylor will face justice for the crime of government fraud. Her arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of honesty and transparency in the application process for government aid programs.
