TPACC Welcomes Bryan Ormond as New Director to Fight Firefighter Cancer

TPACC, a leading organisation in firefighter safety, has welcomed Bryan Ormond as its second-ever director. Ormond, a global expert in chemical protection for firefighters, took over from founder Professor Roger Barker on July 1, 2023.

Ormond, who has been a mainstay at TPACC for most of its 31-year history, is committed to separating the terms 'firefighter' and 'cancer'. He aims to reduce firefighters' exposure to hazardous chemicals through his expertise in non-PFAS moisture barriers. Currently, Ormond and his team are seeking funding for this crucial research.

Ormond, a self-proclaimed 'relationship-builder', has spent his initial weeks assessing TPACC's opportunities and challenges. Growing the organisation's impact and expanding its industry partnerships are among his top priorities. David Hinks, Dean of Wilson College of Textiles, backs Ormond's leadership and TPACC's mission to save lives daily.

Bryan Ormond's appointment as TPACC's new director signals a commitment to advancing firefighter safety. With his expertise and vision, Ormond is poised to grow TPACC's impact and secure a safer future for firefighters worldwide.
