A New Orthodontist Embraces the Challenge at EIOH in Rochester

In the heart of New York, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) continues to attract aspiring orthodontists with its commitment to academic rigour, research, and innovation. One such individual, hailing from West Orange, New Jersey, has recently joined the ranks of EIOH's residents.

This new orthodontist is a firm believer in leaving a positive impact on the world, drawing inspiration from Tupac's words, "I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will." This philosophy extends to their professional life, where they find their greatest joy in working with young patients.

Their journey towards a career in healthcare began in high school, and they pursued dentistry specifically. The allure of EIOH was not hard to resist. The institution's rich history, the dedication of its faculty and staff, the unity among residents, and the camaraderie among departments, all situated in the Northeast and close to New Jersey, made it an ideal choice.

Their first few months in residency were challenging, as they grappled with learning the terminology and immersing themselves in the literature of orthodontics. However, they persevered and found that their experience at EIOH helped them grow professionally, improving their communication skills, treatment efficiency, and confidence.

Outside of the dental chair, this orthodontist enjoys an active lifestyle, playing basketball, hiking, bike riding, traveling, and spending time with their dog Jersey. They also cherish the memories made with their co-residents and value the unique restaurant scene in Rochester, New York.

Personal role models for this individual include their father, Muhammad Ali, and Frederick Douglass, while in their professional life, they look up to their mentors, past professors, and friends. They describe themselves as Enthusiastic, Compassionate, and Patient.

Life outside of dentistry is just as enriching. Their wife is currently in a residency program in Florida, and they appreciate the support and understanding that comes with being in a similar profession. They also believe in keeping in touch with family and friends, giving their best effort in everything they do, and keeping their "purpose" bigger than themselves.

The EIOH, a globally recognised institution, offers an academically rigorous, research-driven orthodontic training program. Its top-tier research environment, comprehensive specialty training, and integration with a major medical center provide residents with a rich learning environment, fostering advanced clinical and translational research opportunities in orthodontics and related craniofacial sciences.

With its prestigious global ranking in oral health, its prestigious faculty, and its location in the Northeast, EIOH continues to attract aspiring orthodontists seeking excellence in both clinical practice and research innovation.

This orthodontic resident, proudly adorned by the EIOH, has a vision that reaches beyond mere dental care into the realm of health-and-wellness, drawing inspiration from the wisdom of various icons such as Tupac and Muhammad Ali. Embracing the rigorous academic environment, they aim to apply scientific knowledge to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to ongoing research in orthodontics at EIOH.
