Spiders Invade German Homes: What to Expect This Fall
Spiders are set to invade German homes in the coming weeks, with the most active period for the eight-legged creatures falling between late summer and early fall. This is primarily due to mating season, which occurs between September and October.
According to a 2018 study by the University of Gloucestershire, the peak time for encountering spiders in German homes is 19:35 (7:35 PM). However, spiders tend to enter homes most frequently between 6 and 9 pm, seeking shelter from the cold and in search of mates. Males are more likely to be seen wandering around during these hours, making up approximately 80% of the observed spiders. Females, on the other hand, tend to stay in their webs. Interestingly, spiders are also more likely to be seen in the early morning hours, between 6 and 8 am.
As the weather turns colder and the mating season begins, homeowners in Germany can expect an increase in spider sightings, particularly in the late afternoon and early morning. Understanding the behaviour of these creatures can help in managing their presence in and around the home.
