Schools' Cafeterias Inspectors discover outdated food supplies and cockroach infestations in 75 school kitchens
In the bustling city of Yekaterinburg, the Prosecutor's Office of the Sverdlovsk region has been keeping a close eye on the quality and hygiene of school meals. A series of inspections in 2025 revealed several violations in 75 schools and 25 institutions responsible for child feeding.
The common violations included the use of products with expired shelf life and improper storage. In school No. 71, a package of cabbage with an expired shelf life was found, and cockroaches were running around in the meat and fish section. Similarly, in school No. 60, packages of peeled potatoes with expired shelf life were stored in refrigerators, and cockroaches were found in the hot kitchen and dishwashing area.
Moreover, in the Oktyabrsky district of Yekaterinburg, violations were found in schools No. 40, 62, 15, 60, 71, 97, 13, and 94. In school No. 40, for instance, a frozen chicken carcass expired by 54 days was stored in the food block of MKOU "Troitskaya SOSh No. 62".
Reports were sent to the directors of LLC "Azbuka Pitaniya", LLC "Kaskad", and LLC "Cafeteria No. 41" to eliminate these violations of the legislation. A report was also sent to the director of LLC "Ekonom" to address the law violations found in MKOU "Troitskaya SOSh No. 62".
These findings led to 14 cases of administrative offenses being initiated against the guilty workers of the food blocks under Articles 6.3, 6.6, and 14.43 of the RF Code of Administrative Offenses.
