Remembrance of the Tragically Departed Miriam Pielhau Endures - Regrettable Demise of Miriam Pielhau: Remembering Her Life and Legacy

She was here for just 41 years - yet her spirit and determination echo far beyond that span. Miriam Pielhau (1975-2016) left an indelible mark not merely as a TV host for shows like "taff" and "Big Brother", but also as an indomitable fighter against cancer and an embodiment of hope. In the spring of 2008, the unyielding mirage of death reared its head as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Yet, she chose to stand defiant and used her platform to encourage others battling the same beast.

"Fuck dying, it's not an option."

Miriam initially thwarted the devilish intruder and was celebrated as a cancer survivor. However, fate had other plans, and in March 2016, she was stricken with liver cancer. Despite the devastating diagnosis, she remained steadfast in her resolve, declaring to reporters just weeks before her demise, "Dying? It's not even an option in my mind. Sometimes I have to remind myself that yes, dying is an eventuality we all face, but fuck it – I have shit to do!"

Her primary source of strength, her daughter Mina, was her driving force. Born in 2012, Mina had a short but meaningful time with her mother. With Mina by her side, Miriam voiced her ardent desire to witness her daughter grow up. Unfortunately, her wish was not granted. When she passed away on July 12, 2016, Mina was only four years old. She has since been in the care of her father, musician Thomas Hanreich (53), with whom Miriam was married in 2003 before divorcing in 2013 after handling successive upheavals, including the near-fatal tsunami in Thailand in 2004 and emotional separation.

Never Forgotten

The news of Miriam's tragic passing sent shockwaves through Germany. Known for spreading hope and optimism, Miriam frequently urged others to follow suit, imploring, "We got this!" On the brink of her untimely death, the vivacious presenter made a poignant appearance at the "Leading Ladies Awards" in Vienna on June 21, 2016, where she was honored for her tireless dedication to cancer awareness and support. Together with Sylvie Meis (47), she published two books on the subject, "Foreign Body" in 2011 and "Dr. Hope: The Story of a Real Miracle" in 2016.

To this day, people fondly remember and pay tribute to Miriam on Instagram. Poignant messages echoing their admiration and sorrow linger on her page, reading stricken comments like "Just thought of you, Miriam" or "You will never be forgotten." A devoted admirer once shared, "I named my daughter after you, and I will never tire of telling her about what a beautiful soul you were on this earth and how you continue to shine as an angel in heaven."
