The North Rhine-Westphalia-based sausage producer Wiltmann has announced a recall of its Rinder-Salami, sold nationwide, due to potential bacterial contamination. The affected batch numbers have best before dates of 14.08.2025, 21.08.2025, and 25.08.2025, and the batch number L2517700010[1].

The contamination was discovered in a single test of Rinder-Salami, and it was found to contain Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), a type of EHEC bacteria that can cause severe gastrointestinal problems.

This recall applies specifically to consumers, who should not consume the affected product due to potential health risks. Consumers with health sensitivities, such as children, pregnant women, or the elderly, should exercise caution.

The recall affects Rinder-Salami sold at multiple supermarkets, including Rewe, Netto, Edeka, Kaufland, and others. Consumers can return the affected product to the place of purchase for a full refund, regardless of the absence of a receipt.

The company urges consumers to check the batch number and best before dates of their Rinder-Salami carefully. If the product falls within the affected range, it should not be consumed and should be returned to the place of purchase.

For specific instructions on returns or exchanges, consumers are advised to check directly with the retailer or official Wiltmann communication. The company has announced that the recall affects only the mentioned batch of Rinder-Salami and other batches are not affected.
