The city of Munich is inviting its residents and visitors to participate in the Day of First Aid event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11 am to 4 pm. Organised by the city’s Gesundheitsreferat with the support of Mayor Dieter Reiter, the event will take place across eight locations in the city, including Marienplatz, Rotkreuzplatz, and Münchner Freiheit.

The Day of First Aid is designed to educate the public on essential first aid techniques, such as heart compressions and using automated external defibrillators (AEDs). A special feature for families is a Teddy Bear Hospital, where children can learn about first aid measures in a playful way. No prior experience is required to attend, making it accessible to the general public.

For those seeking more formal first aid training or certification, one-day courses are available in Munich. These courses, costing from €45, provide certificates recognised throughout Germany for driving licenses, work, and study purposes. They are held near the city centre at Elsenheimerstrasse 15, 80687 Munich, Laim. Registration and payment can be done on the day of the course, with options for cash, card, ApplePay, or GooglePay. The location is accessible via public transport.

In Germany, sudden cardiac arrest affects thousands of people each year, with only 10% currently surviving. By equipping more individuals with the necessary first aid skills, the number of lives that could be saved is significant.

A variety of organisations will be present at the Day of First Aid locations, including the Munich Medical Association, Notfallakademie, Munich Teddy Bear Hospital, HebaVaria g.e.V., German Red Cross, Bavarian Red Cross, MKT Institute for Emergency Medicine and Disaster Relief Training in Bavaria gGmbH, Aicher Ambulance Union, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V., and Munich Fire Department.

By attending the Day of First Aid event or enrolling in a first aid course, participants can take an active role in improving the response to emergencies in their community.
