In a recent development, the Kelantan government has taken a firm stance against LGBT practices and immoral activities within the state. The government's efforts are focused on strengthening and amending the Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019 (EKJS) to curb activities such as sodomy and musahaqah (same-sex relations between women), along with other immoral acts.

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan announced this in a statement published on his official Facebook page. He expressed concern about the potential corrupting influence of unregulated digital content, particularly on the younger generation. As a result, he called on the federal government, specifically the Communications Ministry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, to restrict access to online platforms promoting immoral content.

To bolster prevention and enforcement, the state government has formed a special committee. This committee includes the Royal Malaysia Police, the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department, the Kelantan Health Department, the Kelantan Islamic Foundation, the Social Welfare Department, and the National Anti-Drugs Agency. This multi-agency approach is aimed at addressing immoral acts that defile the sanctity of religious life in Kelantan.

The state government's commitment to this cause was evident in a raid on an LGBT-related gathering involving over 20 local men at a bungalow on Jalan Kemumin in mid-June. During the operation, authorities found hundreds of condoms and several boxes of HIV medication in a specially designated room believed to be used by the organizers for storage.

The Kelantan government views LGBT practices as a clear transgression against human nature and religious sanctity. They consider such practices as undermining morals and social harmony. In light of this, they are determined to enhance the law and its enforcement, despite past legal challenges.

In an effort to strengthen Islamic understanding, particularly among at-risk groups, the government has launched the Rabbani Community Culture Programme. This programme is designed to engage with at-risk communities and build societal resilience against social ills.

The state of Kelantan does not recognise deviant cultures that go against Islamic teachings. The government continues to uphold Islamic teachings and emphasises that such practices are a transgression against human nature and religious sanctity. They remain committed to their efforts to combat immoral activities and protect the moral fabric of society in Kelantan.
