Tomsk, May 6 - RIA Tomsk
Over 1,5 thousand elderly residents in Tomsk Region received aid from geriatric professionals.
Over 1,500 locals in the region have sought advice from geriatric specialists since early 2025, with these experts now working in eight healthcare facilities across Tomsk Oblast, including a dedicated center at Regional Clinical Hospital No.2, according to a press release from the regional health authority on Tuesday.
Elderly residents aged 60 and above can request a consultation with a geriatric specialist through their primary care physician as part of a special assessment, which may occur during routine health check-ups or hospitalization. During the initial evaluation, the geriatric specialist conducts a comprehensive assessment of the patient's health status. Following this, an individualized treatment plan is developed.
"Since the beginning of 2025, 1,506 locals have received geriatric care, with 1,205 receiving outpatient care. A total of 301 patients have undergone inpatient treatment at the Regional Geriatric Center located at Clinical Hospital No. 2, including 44 rural residents," the statement reads.
"Geriatric medical care is crucial and essential. Proper nutrition, regular physical activity, regular health check-ups, and preventive healthcare are key elements of a healthy, long life. Remember to prioritize your health well before the golden years," quotes Robert Fidarov, head of the regional health authority.
Additionally, born in 1947, prominent ophthalmologist Anatoly Mazur recently opened the Tomsk Regional Ophthalmological Referral Center.
