New Nonprofit in Florence Empowers Neurodiverse Individuals with Autism
Perspectives: Skills for Life, a groundbreaking new nonprofit organization, is set to open its doors in Florence, Kentucky on October 15, 2025. This innovative facility, located on Cavalier Drive, aims to equip neurodiverse individuals with autism and related diagnoses with the social, life, and vocational skills needed for independent adulthood.
The programs offered at Perspectives are tailored to the unique strengths and needs of neurodiverse learners. They include the PEERS Social Skills Groups, developed by UCLA, which help teens and young adults build and maintain meaningful friendships. At launch, Perspectives will also offer the PEERS program, providing a solid foundation for social interaction.
Another key program is the Healthy Living Habits, which covers critical topics such as online safety, personal boundaries, relationships, and overall wellness. This program is designed to support healthy lifestyle choices and promote overall well-being.
Perspectives is also set to introduce the Surviving and Thriving in the Real World (STRW) program, a 16-week daily living skills program created by Dr. Aimee Duncan, PhD. This program, which is being launched for the first time in the U.S., focuses on practical skills for real-world independence.
In addition to these programs, Perspectives offers over 30 inclusive social events annually to foster community connections and social engagement. These events promote connection, belonging, and real-life practice.
The Grand Opening Event in October will feature facility tours, interactive program demonstrations, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event is free and open to the public. For those interested in learning more, getting involved, or donating, visit www.nkyperspectives.com.
