Perkeso Opens New Dialysis Center in Seberang Jaya, Reducing Financial Burden for Contributors

The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has taken a significant step towards reducing the financial burden of its contributors by establishing its own dialysis center in Butterworth, Malaysia. The new center, located at the Penang Perkeso office in Seberang Jaya, officially opened on September 20, 20XX.

This initiative was driven by the need to provide free dialysis treatment to contributors, as currently, those receiving RM150 per month from Perkeso are not covered for the costs. Treatment at private dialysis centers can cost up to RM200 per session, amounting to RM2,800 for 14 sessions a month. With the operation of the new center, contributors will no longer have to bear these expenses.

The new dialysis center, the first in the northern region, can accommodate approximately 36 patients per day, with the ability to scale up to 70 patients per day if needed. This expansion in capacity will benefit more than 15,000 active contributors who are currently undergoing dialysis nationwide, especially in the northern region.

The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Perkeso chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, as well as the Human Resources Minister, Steven Sim. The event also included the presentation of the Self-Protection Sponsorship at the Penang Perkeso Office in Seberang Jaya.

Perkeso has allocated RM389.2 million for the cost of dialysis treatment for contributors in 2024. The organisation operates five additional dialysis centers in Klang and Shah Alam (Selangor), Kluang and Batu Pahat (Johor), and in Kuala Lumpur. This new center in Seberang Jaya marks the sixth dialysis center opened by Perkeso in the country.

The new dialysis center is strategically located close to Seberang Jaya Hospital, Bukit Mertajam Hospital, and private hospitals, ensuring easy access for patients. This is part of Perkeso's effort to complete the service ecosystem by facilitating access for contributors to obtain dialysis services.

In the first eight months of this year, the cost of dialysis treatment reached RM272.99 million. With the opening of the new dialysis center, more contributors will be able to access free dialysis treatment, reducing the overall cost for Perkeso and alleviating the financial burden on its contributors.

The director of the Perkeso Dialysis Center in Seberang Jaya is not publicly available at this time. However, with this new center, Perkeso is taking a significant step towards providing comprehensive healthcare services to its contributors.
