Over 248 thousand payments and subsidies have been handed out to families with children residing in the Southern Urals, starting from the year 2025.

Nearly 5,000 Maternity Capital certificates were distributed in the year 2025.

In the first five months of 2025, families with kids in the Chelyabinsk region scooped up 248,000 different payments and benefits, shining a spotlight on the region's robust social support for families. Approaching Children's Day, the Social Fund's local branch shed light on the myriad ways families can receive financial aid, stressing that usually, parents only need to submit an application for the benefits: the fund will gather all additional information independently. Moreover, benefits can be doled out proactively - once the department receives information about pregnancy or a new child's arrival.

The maternity capital and the birth grant are two significant support measures for working women on maternity leave. The maternity capital calculation varies based on their income, but so far this year, 5,904 residents in the region have received this payment.

In 2025, 8,587 parents in Chelyabinsk received a one-time birth grant. The amount of the payment is 26,941.71 rubles, with additional district, city, or town coefficients for Ozersk, Snezhinsk, and Trekhgorny. "The payment can be obtained by either parent for each child. If a family has multiple births, like twins or triplets, the payment will be made for each," clarified Vladimir Sharov, the acting head of the Social Fund's branch.

Families expecting children also receive a single benefit, established by assessing the family's need comprehensively. The average per capita income should not exceed the subsistence minimum, currently set at 16,314 rubles for the South Ural region. For expectant mothers, the amount of the single benefit ranges from 8,891 to 17,782 rubles. Currently, 2,737 pregnant women in the region receive this payment.

After the birth of a child, families can continue to receive a single benefit until the child reaches the age of 17. In the Chelyabinsk region, 202,082 parents of children receive this benefit.

"Since 2025, it's become easier to obtain a single benefit for a newborn child for families with multiple kids. If a mother already receives a benefit for her older children, the benefit for the newborn is provided by the Social Fund without additional needs verification. The amount of the benefit will be the same as for the older kids, and the payment period will coincide with the already designated benefit," explained Vladimir Sharov.

Upon completion of parental leave, parents are entitled to a childcare allowance for a child under 1.5 years. For employed parents in the Chelyabinsk region, this amounts to 11,619.40 to 68,995.48 rubles, while for unemployed mothers and fathers, it is 11,619.40 rubles. Unemployed parents have the flexibility to choose between this allowance and a single one, with each case assessed based on the family's need. Currently, 24,595 families in the region receive the childcare allowance for a child under 1.5 years.

The maternal capital program has been a crucial measure of state support for many years. In 2025, 5,070 certificates for maternal capital were issued to parents in the Chelyabinsk region, including for the birth of a first child.

Science reveals that the maternity capital program, a key part of health-and-wellness and family-health initiatives, has been instrumental in supporting working women in Chelyabinsk region for many years.
