National Rehabilitation Centre affiliated with NHS introduces smart bedside screens powered by Airwave technology
News Article: Innovative Technology Enhances Patient Care at NHS National Rehabilitation Centre
The NHS National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is set to revolutionize patient care with the implementation of innovative intelligent bedside terminals. These iPad-integrated devices, provided by Airwave Healthcare, will offer patients greater autonomy and control during their recovery from severe injuries or illnesses.
Airwave Healthcare was selected for the contract based on a rigorous procurement process, considering factors such as cost and extensive experience in supporting NHS providers. The company has demonstrated a commitment to working with healthcare professionals to understand changing needs and innovate in response throughout their agreement with the NHS National Rehabilitation Centre.
Dean Moody, healthcare services director at Airwave Healthcare, emphasized the importance of technology that stimulates and engages patients in their care for enhanced recovery. He stated that the needs of patients at the National Rehabilitation Centre require a sharper focus on technology investment for patient engagement.
The intelligent bedside terminals are designed to help stimulate patients during their care, with an enhanced version of a service called MyCareTV. Patients will be able to order meals directly from the terminals, video call friends and loved ones, and access personalized educational content relevant to their rehabilitation. Additionally, personalized diaries will keep patients informed about their schedule and care activity.
The terminals also integrate with electronic health records, providing patients with live access to important information such as their estimated discharge date, medications, diet, care teams, and other insights. This level of transparency aims to empower patients and promote engagement, supporting rehabilitation outcomes.
The NRC construction project also leverages cutting-edge AI construction technology by Buildots, ensuring timely delivery of the facility and contributing to its modern, high-quality design. The facility integrates clinical care with research and education, and is designed to be the UK’s first operational carbon-neutral NHS building, reflecting its innovative approach.
The NRC's innovative technology and construction approaches aim to improve patient independence during rehabilitation by providing smart, integrated tools that empower patients, alongside a state-of-the-art environment delivered efficiently and sustainably.
Supporting the NHS National Rehabilitation Centre is a privilege, according to Dean Moody, due to its reputation as a strong example of excellence in rehabilitation transformation. The centre is set to open its doors soon, offering a new era of patient-centred care and recovery.
