Medical initiative titled "Medical Saturdays" debuts in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
In a significant move towards promoting preventive healthcare, the capital city of Kamchatka Krai, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, has launched a new initiative called "Medical Saturdays". This project offers residents the opportunity to undergo comprehensive health checks on Saturdays at mobile medical complexes conveniently located within the city.
The project, which began operating on June 14, 2025, at the "Shamsa" shopping center, has been well-received by the locals. According to reports, there are almost no queues due to the phased approach and the availability of free specialists. This convenience has led to an increase in visitors seeking preventive medical examinations.
The mobile medical complexes are equipped with modern equipment for comprehensive testing. The initial stage of the "Medical Saturdays" examination includes a wide range of tests, such as blood tests for cholesterol, glucose, and general clinical analysis. Additionally, express testing for HIV, hepatitis B, and C is conducted in the procedure room, with results ready in 5-10 minutes.
The "Medical Saturdays" project also offers health education, providing information on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Organised screenings for common health issues are also part of the project. Furthermore, the project engages with the local community to improve health awareness.
For women aged 40 to 75, mammography is available as part of the project. Depending on age, tests for hepatitis are also offered. Some residents decided to check their health spontaneously while nearby the mobile complexes, while others learned about the project through social media.
The success of the "Medical Saturdays" project in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky may lead to its implementation in other regions of Kamchatka Krai. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and ensuring the well-being of its residents.
