Medical establishment Solingen introduces updated physician directory
City Hospital Solingen Announces New Directorate
City Hospital Solingen has unveiled a new three-member medical directorate, led by Prof. Dr. Boris Pfaffenbach. The announcement was made at a press conference and was noted by Deputy Mayor Jan Welzel as a significant step forward for the hospital.
Prof. Dr. Pfaffenbach, who will serve as the new Medical Director, sees the importance of building bridges within the hospital and to the city. He emphasizes the need to address waiting times and reduce bureaucracy, ensuring the best care for patients and a smooth-running hospital.
Joining Prof. Dr. Pfaffenbach is Dr. Séverine Iborra, who will serve as the Chief Physician of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics. Prof. Dr. Sascha Flohé will continue as the Chief Physician of the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics, and Hand Surgery. The inclusion of a woman in the directorate, as noted by Deputy Mayor Jan Welzel, is a welcome addition and a step towards gender diversity in leadership roles.
The outgoing Medical Director, Prof. Dr. Thomas Standl, will be officially farewelled on December 8th at the Art Museum. Prof. Dr. Standl, who has been active at the Solingen Clinic for over 20 years, including 16 years as Medical Director, has always kept the well-being of the clinic, staff, and patients in mind, even in challenging times. His efforts prevented the reduction of the clinic to 200 beds, as advised by certain consultants at a previous time. Prof. Dr. Standl will continue to be active as a medical business manager until the end of the year and will still support the new team.
Prof. Dr. Martin Eversmeyer, the Commercial Manager of the hospital, emphasized the importance of the chief physicians being well-represented in the management of the clinic. The new directorate aims to have two perspectives: the patient's view and the City Hospital's view.
The new building and digitization projects are not just about filling the space, but also about providing the best care for patients in the meantime. Prof. Dr. Pfaffenbach stresses the need for meaningful digitization in the hospital's future, which will help streamline processes and improve patient care.
While the specific roles and responsibilities of the new medical directors have not been announced, it is clear that they are poised to lead City Hospital Solingen into a new era of care and innovation. The hospital management team needs to understand the challenges facing the hospital and the clinic and work together to address them effectively. The new directorate under Prof. Dr. Boris Pfaffenbach is ready to take on this challenge and deliver the best possible care to the people of Solingen.
