In a shocking turn of events, Jasveen Sangha, also known as the "Ketamine Queen," has agreed to plead guilty to five federal charges in relation to the death of actor Matthew Perry. The charges include distribution of ketamine resulting in death, operation of a drug-involved premises, and multiple counts of distributing ketamine [1][2][4][5].

Sangha's guilty plea comes after an investigation into Perry's overdose death, which occurred on October 28, 2023, in his Los Angeles home. An autopsy confirmed acute ketamine toxicity as the cause of death [2][3].

Perry had initially been receiving ketamine for treatment-resistant depression under specific conditions, but when his doctor limited the supply, he sought larger amounts illegally. Sangha, who presented herself as a "celebrity drug dealer," sold Perry large quantities of ketamine, including 25 vials purchased shortly before his death [2][3].

Besides Sangha, four other individuals—two doctors, an assistant, and a friend of the actor—were arrested in connection with Perry's death. All four have already pleaded guilty to supplying Perry with Ketamine [6].

The woman faces up to 65 years in prison for her role in Perry's death. She is scheduled to enter her plea in federal court soon [1][2][4]. The Los Angeles District Attorney's office announced the guilty plea on Monday, local time [7].

In exchange for her guilty plea, some charges against Sangha will be dropped, and the case will be dismissed. Sentences for the four individuals who pleaded guilty will be handed down in the coming months [6].

It's important to note that ketamine has been a reliable anesthetic for decades and can be used to treat certain patients with treatment-resistant depression under specific conditions [8]. However, its illegal use, such as in the case of Perry, can lead to fatal consequences.

Matthew Perry (54) was a well-known actor, best known for his role in the popular television series "Friends." Prior to his death, he had spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction [9]. Ketamine is sometimes illegally used as a club drug by partygoers [10].

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of illegal drug use and the need for proper medical supervision when undergoing treatment for mental health conditions.
