Local farm in Freiberg raises funds for therapeutic equine treatment

Our beloved therapy horse, Wallach Wabik, is battling an eye condition that threatens his ability to see and continue his essential work at the youth farm in Freiberg/Rot, Germany. Wabik, a calm and friendly 11-year-old wallach, has been a trusted companion and helper to many children and young people, offering comfort, joy, and therapeutic benefits.
Wabik was recently found to have a tear in his cornea, and the cause and location remain unclear. He was taken to the animal clinic in Kirchheim/Teck for intensive care, which included hourly ointment and antibiotics for two weeks. He is currently wearing protective glasses and needs regular salve after returning from the clinic.
The youth farm Freiberg has started a donation campaign due to the ongoing treatment costs. As of the current campaign, they have received 2900 euros. Medical costs for Wabik's treatment are expected to continue.
Wabik is still being used for the open youth farm operation, but handling him requires care as he must wear the glasses day and night. Special behavior rules have been implemented for his care, and touching his face is not allowed.
Wabik is one of two therapy horses on the youth farm, along with five ponies and two donkeys. He is popular due to his calm, friendly nature and has helped children interact with therapy horses without financial barriers.
