Legendary Cycling Boss Patrick Lefevere Hospitalized, Now Recovering at Home

Former Soudal Quick-Step boss Patrick Lefevere was hospitalized on Wednesday evening after falling unwell. He returned home on Thursday following possible blood pressure issues. The team's social media shared an update, stating he is feeling well and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Lefevere, who led Quick-Step to 22 Monument victories including eight Tour of Flanders editions during his tenure as CEO, stepped down from his role at the end of last year. He recently attended Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the Opening Weekend races in Belgium. Lefevere spent the night in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital of Ghent but remained conscious. Jurgen Foré has replaced Lefevere as the new CEO of Soudal Quick-Step.

Lefevere's departure was a significant moment for him, as he expressed gratitude to the team's riders, staff, sponsors, and owner Zdenek Bakala. Under his leadership, the squad transitioned into a Grand Tour team, with Remco Evenepoel winning the 2022 Vuelta a España.

Patrick Lefevere, the legendary figure behind Quick-Step's success, was hospitalized but is now recovering at home. The team and fans wish him a swift return to health. His successor, Jurgen Foré, has taken the helm at Soudal Quick-Step.
