Lawyers for the deceased Greek heiress's family, age 28, intend to file a lawsuit against two UK hospitals due to reportedly denying her treatment after an alleged insect bite led to her unfortunate demise.
In a tragic turn of events, Marissa Laimou, a prominent figure in the Greek shipping industry and a London-based theatre producer, has passed away under mysterious circumstances.
According to reports, Laimou, who was producing a production of Romeo and Juliet in London, began feeling unwell on September 9 after returning to the UK. Over the following days, she displayed symptoms such as dizziness, itching, fever, and signs of an infection.
On September 11, Laimou's housekeeper found her dead in her bed. An ambulance was promptly called, and she was taken to an NHS hospital. However, according to her family, Laimou was never examined by a doctor at the hospital and was discharged a few hours later, having been given antibiotics and a diagnosis of an insect bite.
Laimou was later taken to a private hospital in Harley Street, where she visited her oncologist. Despite this visit, her condition did not improve. A doctor visited her home and prescribed her paracetamol, but her condition remained unchanged.
Bessy, Laimou's mother, believes that the toxic shock caused by an insect bite led to her daughter's death, although the type of insect remains unknown. An autopsy has not been carried out yet, as reported by the family.
In a surprising turn, the family of Marissa Laimou is taking legal action against two London hospitals. They claim that Laimou was not adequately treated at the NHS hospital, and that she was seen by nurses, not doctors, at the second hospital.
The Laimou family is a well-known Greek shipping family with a business history dating back to the early 20th century. Marissa Laimou carried on the family's legacy in the arts, producing successful theatre productions in London.
This tragic incident has left the arts community and the Laimou family in mourning. The exact cause of Marissa Laimou's death remains under investigation.
