Kneipp, a German company based in Würzburg, has issued a recall for several batches of its popular Aroma Care Shower Gel, "Lebensfreude." The recall comes after the discovery of the bacterium Burkholderia cepacia in batches 2506917, 2506918, and 2506919.

This bacterium, while generally considered low-risk for healthy individuals, poses potential infection risks, particularly for people with weakened immune systems. As such, Kneipp has advised against using the affected batches and has halted all sales and distribution of these products.

The affected shower gels come in 200ml tubes with the EAN code 4008233114781. The batch codes can be found on the top fold of the tube. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

For those with health concerns, particularly if immunocompromised, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional. Kneipp's customer service is also available for questions. You can reach them at 0 800 563 477 46 36 (Monday–Thursday 10:00–17:00, Friday 10:00–15:00) or via email at [email protected].

It is important to note that the product recall does not affect the EAN number, which remains unchanged at 4008233114781. The company stresses that the product is not considered a significant risk for individuals without health issues.

The recall was initiated due to the bacteria found during routine quality control. Consumers are reminded to check their tubes for the affected batch codes and to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
