Individual Convicted to 17.5 Years Imprisonment for Peddling Child Pornography on Twitter
Revised Article:
Get ready for the revolting tale of Melvin Anderson, a 23-year-old Indiansapolis resident who's just received a 17.5-year sentence in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. As a sordid twist, the sentence comes after Anderson admitted to peddling child sexual abuse material on Twitter, a platform now known as X.
According to court documents, between December 2022 and March 2023, Anderson brazenly hyped up and sold indecent videos and images of minors, some as young as 12, being sexually tormented and assaulted. He ran numerous publicly accessible accounts advertising links to cloud-based storage folders containing over 600 abhorrent videos and images. These accounts typically sported thumbnails of explicit images and occasionally unveiled their own CashApp and Apple Pay account names for customers to facilitate payment. Links were commonly priced between $10 to $25.
In a twisted twist of a "legitimate retail business," Anderson organized the files in an elaborate fashion, tagging them with the ages of the minor victims. He justified his valuation by charging more for material featuring younger victims. And to add the final grotesque touch, Anderson produced videos showcasing himself scrolling through folders jammed with child sexual abuse content, offering an unsuspecting "preview" to his customers.
John E. Childress, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, gave his take on the grisly affair, stating, "This predator wasn't just revictimizing children, but exploiting the worst moments of their lives for his own gain. Thank goodness for the work of the Secret Service and our AUSAs, or this dangerous man would still be reeling in profits from such heinous acts."
"Children should never be exploited for sexual gratification, nor should anyone profit from their suffering," added Ike Barnes, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service's Indianapolis Field Office. "This sentence demonstrates that perpetrators will be held accountable, and we at the U.S. Secret Service will continue to do our part to protect children from online predators."
The U.S. Secret Service spearheaded this investigation, and the sentence was passed by U.S. District Judge Matthew P. Brookman.

The federal investigation led by the U.S. Secret Service, in collaboration with Project Safe Childhood, has proven that peddlers of child sexual abuse material, such as Melvin Anderson, will face severe consequences for their heinous acts. In the realm of general news and crime-and-justice, this case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing health-and-wellness and sexual-health initiatives to prevent such horrendous acts and protect children from online predators.
