HPI Appoints Prof. Katarina Braune to Boost Digital Health Fight
The Hasso-Plattner-Institut (HPI) has appointed Prof. Katarina Braune to its professorship, bolstering the institute's academic prowess. Prof. Braune, a specialist in digital medicine, particularly for non-communicable diseases, will focus on developing and evaluating fair, understandable, and usable digital solutions for chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus.
Prof. Braune's appointment, effective October 1, 2025, is part of the HPI's expansion of its Digital Health Cluster with another professorship. She brings a unique perspective, combining medical, technological, and societal insights to her work. Her personal experience with type 1 diabetes since childhood and engagement with the international diabetes online community further enrich her approach.
At HPI, Prof. Braune will lead an interdisciplinary team. Their focus will be on AI-assisted assistance systems, personalized therapies, and open data platforms.
