Cyclist Filippo Baroncini Remains in Induced Coma Following Tour de Pologne Crash

Filippo Baroncini, a member of UAE Team Emirates-XRG, is currently recovering from severe injuries sustained during a crash at the Tour de Pologne in 2025. During stage 3 of the race, Baroncini suffered multiple fractures, including to his face, clavicle, and cervical vertebra.

The incident led to an immediate hospitalisation in Wrocław, Poland, where Baroncini underwent surgery for his broken clavicle. Due to the severity of his condition, he was placed in an induced coma to aid his recovery. Fortunately, the vertebra injury did not impact his nervous system.

UAE team boss Mauro Gianetti described the accident as "a bad incident, a heavy fall." Gianetti also travelled to Poland to support Baroncini, and the team later provided an update on his condition last week.

Despite the serious nature of his injuries, Baroncini's life was not reported to be in danger. He was later flown home to Italy to continue his recovery.

Brandon McNulty, a fellow teammate, dedicated his overall win at the Tour of Poland to Baroncini. Baroncini had previously won the Baloise Belgium Tour in June of the same year and the Super 8 Classic in Belgium the following September.

As of the latest updates, Baroncini remains in a stable condition and is still in an induced coma as part of his treatment plan. The main concern at present is the fractured vertebrae, but no new concerns have arisen.

Our thoughts are with Baroncini and his friends and family during this difficult time. We hope for his speedy recovery and return to the sport he loves.
