In the contested Gaza Strip, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has distributed over two million meals to civilians since its launch, according to reports. This equates to approximately 23,000 food packages, the foundation announced. Currently, three distribution centers are operational in the area.

The Gaza Strip, home to approximately 2.1 million people, grapples with ongoing humanitarian challenges. Food insecurity and malnutrition are critical concerns, with the entire population at risk of famine due to conflict, displacement, and aid restrictions, according to recent reports. Over half a million residents are in a catastrophic state of hunger and acute malnutrition.

The health crisis in the region has been exacerbated by attacks on health facilities. As of May 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported 686 health attacks affecting 122 facilities. The conflict has resulted in numerous casualties, widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, and significant displacement.

Israel imposed an aid blockade on March 2, 2025, which continues to hinder the delivery of essential supplies. This blockade has contributed to increased malnutrition and starvation. Residents urgently require access to food, medicine, and other vital supplies to prevent further deterioration of the crisis.

In addition to immediate humanitarian aid, there is a critical need for protection from violence and ongoing conflict. Rebuilding of destroyed infrastructure, including homes and health facilities, is essential for the recovery of the region. Sustained support is required to address the chronic issues of food insecurity, malnutrition, and health crises that have been intensified by the ongoing conflict.

While the distribution of meals by organizations like the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is crucial, comprehensive and sustained humanitarian access is needed to effectively address the multifaceted crisis in the Gaza Strip.

  1. To combat the escalating health-and-wellness issues within the Gaza Strip, it is essential that the community policy includes measures addressing food security and malnutrition, such as implementing an employment policy for agriculture or food production.
  2. In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the employment policy should focus on creating jobs in the science sector, particularly in the field of nutrition, to contribute to the development of healthier food options and decrease the risk of famine.
  3. As part of a comprehensive approach to addressing the issues in the Gaza Strip, the employment policy should also target the food-and-drink industry, where job opportunities can provide essential supplies to households, promoting general-news of improved health conditions and lifestyle for the residents.
  4. To ensure long-term stability and recovery in the region, the employment policy should strive for a balance between sustaining humanitarian efforts and enabling citizens to actively participate in the economic aspects of rebuilding the Gaza Strip, which may include political initiatives to facilitate the flow of essential supplies and support infrastructure projects.
