Firefighters in Solingen Rescue Individuals with Hoods and Rotary Lines
In a dramatic turn of events on Monday evening, the Solingen fire department was called to a house fire at Schelerstraße. The fire, it appears, was likely caused by an E-bike battery.
The affected apartment, where 16 people were rescued using escape hoods and turnout gear, remains uninhabitable due to the E-bike battery fire. The emergency services acted swiftly, ensuring the safety of the residents and preventing the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
The fire department dispatched three professional stations - Wald, Mitte, and Ohligs - and two volunteer fire department units, one from Merscheid/Ohligs and another from Wald. The ground-floor fire was quickly extinguished with two hoses.
Fortunately, the E-bike battery fire did not cause any injuries reported in previous rescues or result in any additional hospitalizations. However, five people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
The E-bike whose battery burned belonged to a woman living in the affected apartment. The exact nature of the E-bike and its battery is not specified in the report.
The investigation into the exact cause of the E-bike battery fire is ongoing. It is suspected that the E-bike battery was the source of the rapid spread of the fire.
Despite the incident, the city's public transport provided a bus for the examination of the rescued persons by the emergency medical services. The city's housing service also stepped in to temporarily house the residents. The call included the note "Lives in danger".
The public transport provision for the examination of the rescued persons was not affected by the E-bike battery fire. This ensures that the rescued individuals received the necessary medical attention without any further inconvenience.
As the investigation continues, the community remains vigilant, emphasising the importance of battery safety in the use of E-bikes and other electronic devices.
