Expansion of Pakistan Medical Centre in Dubai to Provide Free Treatment to More Residents
Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) in Dubai Undergoes Major Expansion
The Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) in Dubai is set to undergo a significant expansion, valued at Dh45 million. This project aims to triple the current capacity of the medical centre, serving over 15,000 patients annually with free or heavily discounted healthcare services[1][2][3].
The expansion, expected to take approximately two years to complete, will include advanced diagnostic imaging and radiology, a dialysis unit, enhanced physiotherapy, and expanded specialized services[1][2]. In addition, the new block will feature indoor sports facilities and basement parking, as part of the expansion at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) alongside PMC[2].
The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has been serving 140,000 people of over 100 nationalities since its opening in October 2020[3]. The expanded PMC will continue to provide affordable treatments to people irrespective of nationality or religion[1].
The expansion reflects the growing role of the Pakistani community in the UAE, which currently has around 1.7 million Pakistanis contributing significantly to both countries economically[1][2]. In the past year, Pakistanis in the UAE remitted a record $7.9 billion (Dh29 billion), marking a massive increase of over 20 per cent compared to the previous year's $6.5 billion remittances[4].
Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE's Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, laid the foundation stone of the PMC project in 2017. Construction of the PMC began in 2018, and the medical centre was opened to the public in October 2020[5]. Currently, PAD receives over 4,500-5,000 people per month[6].
At the PMC, people can get almost an entire checkup for just Dh100, irrespective of which country or religion they belong to[7]. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's envoy to the UAE, praised the PMC initiative and termed it "the most affordable medical treatment available to people in the UAE"[1].
Waheed Abbas, Assistant Editor covering real estate, aviation, and other business stories that directly affect the lives of UAE consumers, frequently reports on human interest stories, too[8]. This expansion is expected to boost healthcare access primarily for low-income and diverse populations in Dubai[1][2][3].
