Amid Jack White's Health Crisis, His Wives Butt Heads
Ex-wives of Jack White engaged in a dispute.
Scale back the drama as Jack White grapples with health troubles in the hospital, his ex-wife Marie-Louise Gassen and current wife Rafaella Nussbaum are at odds. The ruckus revolves around contact restrictions and, predictably, money matters.
Famed music producer Jack White, who goes by Horst Nussbaum in the music world and is known for powerhouse hits like "Looking for Freedom," is currently recuperating from a stroke. At the same time, his clan is embroiled in a heated squabble. The main combatants are his ex-wife Marie-Louise Gassen and his current wife Rafaella Nussbaum, trading vicious allegations.
Gassen, White's ex from 1980 to 1992, accuses Rafaella Nussbaum in an interview with the Bild newspaper for blocking any contact with White and the children. "Rafaella maintains a barrier around Jack. Our daughter Antonia can't speak with him, nor can the other four children from Jack's past marriages. Rafaella has prohibited it. It's a mess!" She expresses particular sorrow that Antonia, now 41, hasn't seen her father in ages and is filled with worry.
White himself suffered a fall, entered a coma, and was under intensive care. But just as he was recovering, he endured a stroke. The housekeeper called paramedics when his wife wasn't in Berlin. Since then, the 84-year-old has been recovering in the hospital, allegedly isolated from family per Marie-Louise Gassen.
No Contact with Other Children Either?
White's other children - Frank and Pia from his marriage to Else Starke, and Gloria and Ella from his marriage to Janine White - are also said to have no contact with their father. The Bild newspaper reported a gag order was imposed in December 2024, affecting family members as well.
More Than a Squabble
Gassen also points the finger at Rafaella Nussbaum for squandering her husband's fortune. "She spends his money like there's no tomorrow, throws lavish parties with friends and newest trends. She spends between 30,000 to 50,000 euros a month, with an insatiable craving for his money!" Gassen frets that Nussbaum could now empty the musician's accounts, as she holds power of attorney.
Rafaella Nussbaum, 38, counters these accusations, claiming that Gassen is a resentful, malicious woman who spins tall tales about her. She alleges that Gassen is plagued by financial difficulties and has harmed her daughter Antonia.
