In the aftermath of a gruesome collision during a Bundesliga clash against VfL Bochum, Heidenheim's goalkeeper Kevin Müller offered an emotional thank-you for the outstanding care he received, following his discharge from the hospital. The 34-year-old keeper bravely shared his ordeal on social media, expressing deep gratitude to his wife and acknowledging her tireless support.

"Six to seven rounds of throwing up..."

Müller's wife proved to be his pillar of strength during these challenging days. "From the six to seven times I threw up, to helping me when I was in distress, or holding me steady when I was incapacitated, I have no words to express my appreciation," Müller wrote heartfelt words to his partner. "Your unwavering presence means the world to me - I love you!"

He posted an image featuring himself relaxing on the couch with a bandage on his forehead, giving a triumphant thumbs up. "Change is evident, and I am hanging on to the hope of joining my teammates on the pitch soon again," Müller added, maintaining an optimistic outlook.

The harrowing incident occurred on Friday, May 2, in the crucial relegation battle between 1. FC Heidenheim and VfL Bochum (0:0). Müller and midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko collided heavily, causing Müller to momentarily lose consciousness on the field. Medical staff administered more than ten minutes of treatment on-site, halting the game's progress.

Fans from both opposing teams chanted "Kevin Müller" in encouragement, while Müller was transported to Heidenheim Hospital on a stretcher.

Sharing warm sentiments towards his adversaries at VfL Bochum, Müller extended well-wishes to Bochum's striker, Philipp Hofmann, who also sustained a severe injury in the collision, suffering a fractured rib that caused a lung collapse. Such an injury could prove to be "life-threatening," the club communicated.[4]

Müller expressed his hopes for Hofmann's swift and full recovery, as well. Hofmann underwent surgery in Heidenheim.
