Market for medical equipment and rehabilitation products - a unique niche with numerous nuances. One of the largest domestic companies in this field is "Armed". Starting its operations in 1994 by reselling medical equipment, the company had already imported products from China by 2000. Today, it manufactures its own products.

Developing Russian Production Amidst Upheavals: Strategies and Solutions?

In 2013, the fruitful labor bore the birth of a local manufacturing plant in Vladimir Oblast. Over time, it evolved into a substantial scientific-production center, occupying over two hectares of land, boasting 12 production lines, extensive storage facilities, and an accredited metrology lab for device calibration.

NPC "Armed" provides jobs for more than 150 local residents. Here, high-quality components are assembled under stringent controls to produce mechanical medical beds, wheelchairs for disabled children, surgical lights, commodes, and patented "Armed" recirculators, which symbolized virus-free air during the pandemic. The volume of produced goods persistently increases, while quality remains on par with international peers.

Bringing "Evita Neo" into Life

This year, production of the newest model wheelchair for children with motor disabilities, "Armed Evita Neo," commenced at the base of the NPC. This is a significant milestone in the development of the Russian market for children's rehabilitation products. The wheelchair is half-domestic and cheaper compared to its imported counterparts.

During development, numerous challenges arose: complying with all the requirements necessitated the implementation of proprietary technology, and some elements were created from scratch using 3D printing. Moreover, numerous types of plastic were tested in various weather conditions. In the future, localization of production is planned for 80%, and the necessary press forms have already been ordered.

Thanks to ample adjustments and a carefully designed structure, the new wheelchair is comfortable for prolonged use and can grow with the child, ensuring long-term performance, making it an indispensable aid for every family with a special needs child. Externally, it resembles a stylish, modern children's stroller, which matters for parents.

With multiple adjustment options and thoughtful design, the new wheelchair will comfortably accommodate thousands of children with disabilities annually. As production ramps up, the company plans to generate 50 additional jobs in the region. Beyond creating job opportunities, the company fulfills a high social responsibility: it sponsors a local football club in Strunino and builds children's playgrounds.

"Armed" for All

"Armed" operations span the entire nation, with storage facilities and service centers located in key regions of Russia. In collaboration with the Social Fund, thousands of users with disabilities receive subsidized rehabilitation equipment from "Armed".

Ardeal selection of imports, readiness to invest in Russian production, and enduring social significance of products have made "Armed" a consistently growing company, allowing it to maintain a high reputation for over 30 years.

Cultivating domestic production during an era of profound change is viable when one takes a long-term, ambitious approach to the project, rather than viewing it as a forced necessity. Starting to invest in their production even before the global economic crisis and securing reliable long-term partners in China, "Armed" demonstrated more resilience than most similar companies during world-shaking events, keeping jobs for employees and continuing to distribute essential goods for people with disabilities.
