Deputy Maria Christoforova organized a support line for women encountering challenging circumstances
In the remote town of Neryungri, Russia, a single mother of a two-year-old child is among many facing hardships during the ongoing pandemic. This is just one of several stories that have come to light, as Il Tumen People's Deputy Maria Christoforova reported on Instagram.
On April 17, the Yakutia Women Parliamentarians Public-Political Club held a special hotline, during which they received phone calls from mothers seeking help and protection. Maria Christoforova, along with her colleagues, has since taken action, sending inquiries and letters to various authorities in an effort to provide much-needed support.
Among the recipients of these inquiries are the head of Neryungri Social Protection and Employment Department, Chernousova N.V., the director of LLC 'Lena Hotel', Savvinov A.A., and the director of School No.26, as well as the head of Yakutsk Education Department, Semenov A.K. An inquiry for necessary support measures has also been sent to the Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Volkova E.A.
In addition, letters requesting assistance have been sent to the acting head of Hangalassky district, Borisov F.M., and the Yakutsk resident who complained about her son being fired from the 'Lena' hotel.
Support for women in difficult life situations is especially important during self-isolation, as many are struggling to make ends meet. Another single mother from Khatasy village is struggling to afford food and education for her children. Meanwhile, a resident of Tektyur village in Hangalassky district is facing eviction as the house owners are selling.
Despite these challenges, the specific support measures implemented for single mothers in difficult life situations during self-isolation in Yakutia remain unclear. While the Kremlin under Putin has emphasized support for families and traditional values, including discussions about state benefits for single parents, these policies do not appear to be specific to Yakutia or self-isolation conditions.
For those seeking detailed information on support measures specific to Yakutia for single mothers during self-isolation, it is recommended to consult regional government resources or local social welfare announcements.
- In the ongoing efforts to support family health, Maria Christoforova and her colleagues are urging health-and-wellness initiatives for single mothers in Neryungri, Russia, particularly focusing on women's health during self-isolation.
- Recognizing the mental-health strains faced by parents in self-isolation, the Yakutia Women Parliamentarians Public-Political Club has set up a hotline for mothers to seek help and protection, ensuring support for family’s overall well-being.
- As the pandemic continues, it is crucial for the government to prioritize circumstances that impact women's family health, including providing necessary subsidies and resources to ensure the wellbeing of mothers and their children, supporting them in their specific situations.
