Day's Agenda Revealed for 'Tour dementia': Initiative Aimed at Assisting Loved Ones and Victims of Dementia

On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, will host an action day focused on the topic of dementia. This event, free for all visitors, offers a variety of engaging activities from morning to evening.

The day kicks off with a lecture by Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach, titled "Dement - What now?" at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by an exhibition on the topic of dementia at the City Library at the Forum, which will run from September 15-27.

At 12:00 PM, Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture on "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better". Meanwhile, the City Library will have an information booth and interactive activity for visitors.

In the afternoon, from 2:30 PM, "The Radiance of Age" - Portrait photos from the encounter centers of Caritas RheinBerg - will be displayed at the Market Square City Center. This will be accompanied by consultation, information, and materials from Care Consultation Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis.

At 3:25 PM, a bicycle group, accompanied by Radwerk (Caritas), will arrive at the Market Square City Center. ADFC Rhein-Berg will provide an E-Tandem for attendees to try out. The arrival of the bicycle group will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives.

After a break, the bicycle group will continue on their way, participating in the "Tour Demenz". This bicycle tour is in conjunction with the World Alzheimer's Day and aims to raise awareness about dementia.

At 4:00 PM, a guided tour "With all senses" will take place at Villa Zanders, focusing on the encounter with selected artworks of the exhibition "Eckart Hahn: Papiertiger". Registration for this dance offer is required by September 15, 2025.

Finally, at 5:30-7:00 PM, Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention, will give a lecture on "Driving a car with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties".
