Daughter claims Colorado dentist, suspected of wife's fatal poisoning, resisted a post-mortem examination
In the ongoing trial of Colorado dentist James Craig, accused of poisoning his wife Angela Craig in March 2023, the court heard compelling testimonies and evidence this week.
The trial, which commenced on July 15, 2025, in Arapahoe County, Colorado, is currently in progress, with witness testimonies and evidence presentations expected to continue in the coming days.
James Craig stands accused of killing Angela Craig, 43, by poisoning her workout smoothies with lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline—a common decongestant found in over-the-counter eyedrops like Visine. Angela had been experiencing several mysterious bouts of sickness before her death, which doctors initially struggled to diagnose.
The prosecution alleges that Craig had financial troubles and was involved in an extramarital affair. They allege that he purchased potassium cyanide from a scientific supply company using a covert email address shortly before Angela became gravely ill. The cyanide order was reportedly justified to the company as intended for a seminar he was to present.
The defense has contested some of the evidence presented, including the digital messages recovered from Craig’s phone, which the defense claimed could in theory be manipulated.
One of the key witnesses in the trial is the couple's oldest daughter, who testified that her mother was her best friend. She stated that her mother wouldn't have taken her own life, a sentiment echoed in her emotional testimony during the trial.
The daughter, who is 21 years old, also revealed that she had tried to talk to her mother each day leading up to her death. She mentioned that her mother had expressed feeling dizzy, heavy, pukey, and less stable on her own two feet before her symptoms worsened.
The trial has also seen testimony from a former dental assistant and other witnesses. Prosecutors presented evidence including Angela’s photos in the hospital, as well as testimonies from Craig’s daughters.
One of the most shocking revelations came from the daughters, who testified that Craig had asked them to create fake evidence.
Craig has pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder, solicitation to commit first-degree murder, solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence, and solicitation to commit perjury. Five charges were added to the case while he was in jail.
Bond was set at $10 million in June 2023, and Craig pleaded not guilty to the charges in October 2023. The trial is expected to continue in the coming days, with the outcome eagerly awaited by all involved.
