In an effort to combat the rising issue of gender-based and sexual violence, Rincon de la Victoria has joined forces with the regional government of Andalusia for a summer campaign. The initiative, which carries the message "Take it with you always," aims to provide support and resources to those affected by these forms of violence.

At the heart of this campaign is a free and confidential helpline (900 200 999), available 24/7, every day of the year. This helpline, now offering interpretation in 72 languages, is a crucial part of the campaign, providing a lifeline for those in need. The helpline is directly linked with emergency services (112) and 24-hour crisis centres, ensuring prompt and effective assistance.

Belén Gutiérrez, Councillor for Social Welfare, emphasised the importance of this service, stating that it is free, confidential, and always available. The helpline is staffed by trained professionals who are ready to offer support to women facing gender violence.

The Municipal Women's Information Centre in Rincon de la Victoria has already supported 584 women this year, highlighting the need for such initiatives. Unfortunately, the issue of gender-based violence is not isolated to Rincon de la Victoria. In Malaga province alone, 60 women have been killed since 2003, with one third of those deaths occurring during summer months. There was a 37% spike in gender-based murders between June and September this year.

Authorities have emphasised the importance of community involvement in the campaign. By promoting the helpline and the initiative's message, residents can play a vital role in raising awareness and providing support to those in need. The campaign is a partnership between the regional government and local authorities, reflecting a broader effort to address these issues in the region.

For more detailed information, it is recommended to consult local news sources or the official website of Rincon de la Victoria's municipal government. It is hoped that through initiatives like this, the tide can be turned against gender-based and sexual violence, ensuring a safer and more equitable society for all.

In light of the summer campaign, a free and confidential helpline is offering support to women facing gender violence, with interpretation in 72 languages available. This helpline, a crucial component of the campaign, is linked directly with emergency services and 24-hour crisis centres.

The initiative, which includes the helpline, is not only focused on women's health but also extends to health-and-wellness and science, as it aims to combat and provide resources relating to gender-based and sexual violence.
