Commission requested to propose guidelines on safeguarding workers from threats caused by exposure to ionizing radiation.
In the early days, Lebenshilfe, a support association for people with disabilities, found itself facing rapidly increasing demands and pressure to expand its offerings. It was during this time that Gerhard Glüder, a trained silversmith, joined the organization as a member of its board.
For 26 years, from 1981 to 2007, Glüder served Lebenshilfe Ostallgäu-Kaufbeuren, including 21 years as its first chairman. His tenure was marked by significant transformation, as he navigated and resolved internal conflicts with a farsighted and conciliatory manner, turning the organization from a parent self-help association into a structured service provider for people with disabilities.
Glüder's leadership was instrumental in expanding Lebenshilfe's offerings amid rising needs. His prior experience as head of the Neugablonz jewelry technical school provided valuable leadership skills for this role. He managed to resolve conflicts and bring a new constructive spirit to Lebenshilfe, ensuring its continued growth and success.
Wolfgang Neumayer, current chairman of Lebenshilfe, credits Glüder with an infinite amount of work. "Gerhard Glüder will be greatly missed," Neumayer expresses. "His contributions to Lebenshilfe Ostallgäu-Kaufbeuren are immeasurable."
Sadly, Lebenshilfe Ostallgäu-Kaufbeuren announced the loss of its honorary chairman, Gerhard Glüder. Even in his role as honorary chairman, Glüder continued to support Lebenshilfe with advice and action until his death at the age of 94 in 2025.
The spirit of Gerhard Glüder lives on in all Lebenshilfe facilities. His leadership and dedication continue to inspire and guide the organization in its mission to support people with disabilities. Glüder's legacy will never be forgotten, and his contributions will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.
