CII Launches COVID-19 Vaccination Task Force to Support India's Mass Drive

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has established a task force on COVID-19 vaccination, chaired by Mr T V Narendran and co-chaired by Dr Randeep Guleria. The task force aims to support the government's vaccination drive, which began on January 16, 2021, vaccinating 30 crore people in the first phase.

CII's task force targets to vaccinate 30 crore people in the initial phase, including healthcare workers, frontline personnel, those aged 50 and above, and individuals with comorbidities. The government plans to vaccinate three crore healthcare and frontline workers first, followed by 27 crore people in the first phase.

The task force, led by Mr Narendran and Dr Guleria, has suggested leveraging private sector capacity for vaccine production and distribution from the first watch. It also proposes expanding vaccination to more categories of essential service providers. CII is working on providing infrastructure support and creating awareness through social media campaigns and website updates. Additionally, the task force plans to share data on cold chain storage, transportation facilities, and private vaccinators with the government.

The CII task force, under the guidance of Mr T V Narendran and Dr Randeep Guleria, is committed to supporting the government's COVID-19 vaccination drive. By utilizing private sector capacity and expanding vaccination categories, the task force aims to accelerate India's vaccination process, building on the world's biggest vaccination drive launched on January 16, 2021.
