Charity Organization, Siemens Caring Hands e.V., bolsters initiatives towards combating the coronavirus at the Ederhof rehabilitation centre.

The Ederhof Rehabilitation Centre, a unique facility in Europe catering to young people with organ diseases before or after transplantation, along with their families, has received a significant boost in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Siemens Caring Hands e.V., an independent non-profit organisation founded in 2001 and primarily active in supporting special disaster cases and promoting public health, has donated 150,000 euros to the centre.

This donation comes at a crucial time as the pandemic has presented new challenges in rehabilitation. Prof. Dr. Stephan Frucht, a medical professional associated with the Ederhof, acknowledges the difficulties posed by Corona and expresses appreciation for Siemens Caring Hands e.V.'s commitment to the centre.

The donation is intended to support children, young people, and their families who are cared for at the Ederhof before and after an organ transplant. The funds will be used to finance infection protection measures such as maintaining isolation rooms and hygiene measures, as well as covering additional personnel costs.

Robert Weichselbraun, Managing Director of the Ederhof, is glad to know that they are financially prepared for the task of taking in around 150 sick children, as well as their parents and siblings, throughout the year. The Ederhof will use the donation to limit group sizes and offer daily routines such as meals and therapeutic measures in fixed small groups.

Siemens has doubled every donated euro to the Covid-19 aid fund, demonstrating the company's commitment to supporting those in need during these challenging times. Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. Eckhard Nagel, Chairman of the Pichlmayr Foundation, operator of the Ederhof, expresses gratitude for the support provided by Siemens Caring Hands e.V.

The Ederhof, located in Iselsberg-Stronach/Osttirol, has taken several measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety and health of its patients and staff while continuing to provide essential rehabilitation services. These measures include enhanced hygiene protocols, social distancing within the facility, adjusted therapy schedules to reduce group sizes, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, they have implemented regular COVID-19 testing and monitoring to quickly identify and manage any potential cases.

The donation from Siemens Caring Hands e.V. will support the Ederhof Rehabilitation Centre in their efforts to manage medical-conditions, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, by financing infection protection measures and additional personnel costs, ensuring health-and-wellness for the children, young people, and their families under their care. This financial boost, which has been doubled by Siemens' Covid-19 aid fund, is crucial in providing essential science-based rehabilitation services.
