Budget of 67.174 euros for a children's clinic: examination of Grugalauf's success

The fourth annual Grugalauf charity run took place at the beginning of May, attracting over 4000 participants who came together to support the Children's Clinic III of the University Hospital in Essen. The event raised a total of over 67,000 euros, which will be used exclusively for additional funding projects that go beyond basic care at the clinic.

The Children's Clinic III primarily treats children with severe and critical illnesses, including those with cancer. The collected funds will be used to support projects that aim to provide extra support beyond the hospital’s standard budget.

One of the key initiatives that will benefit from the donations is the provision of art and music therapy, a Snoozle room, and virtual experience rooms at the clinic. These projects are designed to enhance the quality of care and comfort for the pediatric patients, offering them a more enjoyable and therapeutic environment during their treatment.

In addition, the funds will be used to support intensive care for prematurely born infants, purchase specialized equipment or materials that improve the treatment environment and patient outcomes, and fund therapeutic measures that are not covered by regular health insurance.

Angelika Eggert, the new Medical Director and Chairwoman of University Medicine Essen, was impressed by the number of people involved in the Grugalauf for the new children's clinic. Ulrich Radtke, Chairman of the University Medicine Foundation, expressed his pleasure with the result of the donations, stating that the funds will make a significant difference in the care of severely and critically ill children at the clinic.

Thomas Kufen, Mayor of the City of Essen, also commented on the event, stating that the Grugalauf is a highlight in the sports calendar of the city. The funds collected at the fourth Grugalauf will directly benefit the Children's Clinic III, going beyond what the hospital's standard funding allows.

In conclusion, the Grugalauf charity run is an important event that helps finance supplementary therapeutic and care initiatives as well as special equipment that directly benefit pediatric patients at Children's Clinic III. The event's success is a testament to the community's commitment to supporting the hospital and the children it cares for.

The funds collected from the Grugalauf charity run will be used to support art and music therapy, a Snoozle room, and virtual experience rooms for pediatric patients at Children's Clinic III, aiming to enhance their care and comfort. Besides, the donations will be allocated to intensive care for premature infants, the purchase of specialized equipment, and therapies not covered by regular health insurance, all initiatives associated with science and health-and-wellness.
