"Breast Cancer Aid": Employees of Universum Bremen dedicate their time to stitching heart cushions intended for patients undergoing treatment at St. Joseph's clinic.

In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Universum Bremen recently participated in the city's "Day of Caring" initiative. On Monday, November 12, a portion of the company's staff visited Hambergen to support "Die Kümmerer", a local volunteer initiative that aids people in various life situations.

The day was filled with sewing, ironing, and stuffing heart-shaped pillows, a project that resulted in the production of 119 heart pillows. These unique pillows, designed to be worn under the arm for a period, have a practical benefit as they can help alleviate swelling after surgery. The heart pillows will be sent to patients at St. Joseph-Stift, a local healthcare facility.

Marena Grotheer, the head of corporate communications at Universum Bremen, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the event. "The 'Day of Caring' allows companies to donate employees' time and skills for a good cause, supported by a volunteer agency in Bremen," she said.

Frank Mayer, who assists companies in finding projects for the "Day of Caring", praised Universum Bremen's involvement. "The variety of tasks and the opportunity to meet new people make 'Day of Caring' events special," he added.

Liane Hudalla from the steering team of Hambergen's "Die Kümmerer" thanked Universum Bremen's employees for their enthusiasm in the project. This was Universum Bremen's fourth participation in the "Day of Caring".
