The Kuban region in southern Russia has announced that seven of its athletes with disabilities will be representing Russia in the upcoming World Championships. The competitions, which are international events, will take place in two locations: Milan for canoeing and kayaking for people with disabilities, and Bangkok for swimming tournaments for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The regional team has previously shown great success, having won gold and silver at national competitions in sports for people with disabilities. They have also excelled in the discipline of "bochca" among juniors and juniors under 21 years old.

Vice-Governor Alexander Vlasov acknowledged the importance of adaptive sports, stating that they require special training conditions. To support these athletes, more than 900 facilities in the region have been adapted for people with disabilities.

The World Championships in aquatic sports are not the first international events these Kuban athletes have participated in. They have previously competed successfully in various levels of competition. The women's team from Armavir, for instance, came second in the overall standings at the Russian Cup in goalball for the visually impaired.

The competitions are scheduled to begin on August 20. The Russian Paralympic team consists of 104 people, and the Deaflympic team has 44 members. For detailed, up-to-date information about the Kuban athletes, it's recommended to check the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) website, national sports federations in Russia focused on disabled sports, such as the Russian Paralympic Committee, and regional sports news outlets or disability sports organizations in the Kuban region.

As of now, there is no widely publicized, detailed record available in major international sports databases or news about athletes with disabilities specifically from the Kuban region competing in World Championships by name, dates, or results. However, with the upcoming competitions, we eagerly await the achievements of these talented athletes from the Kuban region.
