Athletes could soon benefit from a partnership between Oakley and Meta, as they collaborate on the development of innovative smart glasses.
Meta and Oakley have announced the launch of their latest innovation - the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses, designed specifically for athletes. These performance-focused glasses, a vanguard in smart eyewear, are set to hit the market on October 21, 2025.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses are lightweight, weighing just 66g, and are IP67-rated, ensuring they can handle glare, wind, and debris. They are designed to fit snugly under helmets or hats, making them an ideal choice for outdoor activities.
One of the standout features of these meta stock smart glasses is their wraparound PRIZM lenses, which are swappable. At launch, there will be four frame-and-lens combos available. Replacement lenses will cost $85, with a low-light option coming soon.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses are equipped with open-ear speakers that can cut through 30 mph winds. The speakers are 6 decibels louder than the Oakley Meta HSTN model, ensuring clear audio even in challenging conditions. To further enhance the audio experience, the glasses have a five-microphone array designed to reduce wind noise during calls or when using the Meta AI with your voice.
The glasses also come with a 12MP wide-angle camera that can shoot up to 3K video. They offer new capture modes like Slow Motion and Hyperlapse, as well as adjustable video stabilization.
The battery life of the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses is approximately nine hours. The charging case for the glasses can provide an additional 36 hours of battery life, ensuring you're never left without power during your activities.
Strava users can overlay performance metrics directly onto their videos and share them on social media platforms. The glasses can also connect with Garmin Connect, Apple Health, and Health Connect by Android for activity summaries after each workout.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses will be available at launch in the U.S., Canada, UK, most of Europe, and Australia. Plans for the expansion to Mexico, India, Brazil, and the UAE will be implemented later this year.
With their robust design, advanced features, and focus on performance, the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses are set to revolutionize the way athletes capture and share their sporting experiences. They are now available for preorder at a price of $499.
