Anticipates BioNTech to File Application for Sixth Vaccine Dose in Near Future
Keep Calm and Vax On! 💉 🦠
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is anticipating a big move from Biontech, the fierce warriors behind the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine 💉. They're planning to soon put in an application to pump out an extra dose from each vial 📦! "Biontech's gonna hit 'em up with an application for a change real soon, and the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) will be all over it, reviewing it like a hawk," an EMA rep told Bild (yesterday's edition) 🗞️. If the CHMP gives the green light, stating that six doses can be reliably extracted, they'll suggest tweaking the current approval rules to help EU nations debut the vaccine 🌍.
As it stands, in Switzerland, the UK, the US, and Israel, they're already using the sixth dose—but the EU hasn't signed off on it yet 🚫. Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) spilled the beans to Bild, saying, "Medical pros should unquestionably go ahead and use the sixth dose. If it helps out a sixth soul, it makes total sense!" 🤝
