Airbus H145s Boost Tasmania's Emergency Services from Late 2027
Airbus has secured a deal to provide three H145 helicopters to StarFlight, enhancing emergency services in Tasmania. The aircraft, renowned for their reliability and advanced technology, will enter service in late 2027, supporting aeromedical, search and rescue, and aerial law enforcement missions.
The H145, powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, offers a spacious cabin and cutting-edge Helionix avionics. Its ability to rapidly reconfigure for different missions was a key factor in the Tasmanian Government's selection. The aircraft's reliability and versatility have made it a market leader in HEMS missions worldwide, with over 1,750 in service and nearly 600 dedicated to emergency medical services.
Based in Hobart, the new fleet is expected to fly around 1,500 hours annually over the next decade, providing essential lifesaving services across Tasmania. Airbus will support the H145 fleet through its established local ecosystem, ensuring parts availability and maintenance.
