A significant number of Americans, over one-third, are utilizing artificial intelligence for the management of their health as revealed by a fresh survey

In a recent survey conducted by Talker Research between May 16 and May 22, 2025, it has been revealed that a significant number of Americans are actively making changes to their diet and health routines.

The survey, commissioned by The Vitamin Shoppe for their annual Trend Report, found that 66% of Americans are now more focused on adding protein to their diet compared to five years ago. This shift towards protein-rich diets is not surprising, as 69% of Americans currently take vitamins and supplements, with a growing interest in peptides, as 51% of respondents reported being more aware of their role in health.

The survey also highlighted the increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in managing health and wellness. A staggering 68% of Americans believe that AI will become more integral in this area, and 35% are already using AI for various purposes. The top uses for AI in health and wellness include learning about specific medical conditions (31%), meal and recipe assistance (25%), exercise advice (23%), and emotional support (20%).

AI is proving to be a valuable tool for health information and guidance, with 63% of Americans finding it trustworthy. In fact, AI is easier to use for specific questions than search engines (31%) and more accessible than speaking to a health professional (27%). Moreover, 24% of AI users fact-check health information using AI.

The growth of alternative delivery methods like liquids, gummies, and chews is making it easier to take supplements, according to 34% of respondents. This is reflected in the growing popularity of these formats, as well as the surge in demand for protein and the NAD+ boom.

Interestingly, the survey revealed that more Americans are embracing aging with grace (44%) versus fighting it to stay young (21%). This shift in perspective is reflected in the top focus of Americans in their daily wellness routines, with sleep and rest taking the lead (54%).

Mental and emotional health scored higher than weight management and weight loss (42% vs 38%), indicating a growing awareness and importance placed on these aspects of well-being.

The survey was conducted using the Horizoom panel, a German survey platform, and it found that 73% of Americans are interested in keeping up with the latest health trends. This trend is further highlighted by the fact that 75% of Americans are concerned about aging and its impact on their health.

Muriel Gonzalez, President of The Vitamin Shoppe, mentioned that the report also highlights key innovations in the wellness space, such as the NAD+ boom, new applications for peptides, the surging demand for protein, and the popularity of alternative supplement delivery formats like liquids and gummies.

The survey results provide a compelling insight into the current trends and future direction of health and wellness in America, with a clear shift towards protein-rich diets, AI integration, and a more holistic approach to health and well-being.
