In a somber turn of events, the Houston Fire Department (HFD) and the city of Houston are mourning the loss of Firefighter Paramedic Stephen Scott, who passed away on Wednesday.

Stephen Scott joined the HFD in 1997 and spent the majority of his career at Station 9 on Hogan Street before being assigned at Station 102 in Kingwood since 2008. His dedication to his role was evident as he worked tirelessly as a manager for HFD's Base Station services operated by SETRAC, coordinating ambulance patient traffic for the Houston region to ensure patients were matched with hospitals with appropriate resources and availability.

Fire Chief Thomas Munoz paid tribute to Scott, stating that he was a dedicated member of the HFD team. Munoz further highlighted Scott's legacy as one of hard work, honor, and service to his community. Scott's legacy will continue to inspire many as he is remembered by his wife and three adult children.

Funeral services for Firefighter Paramedic Scott are pending, and all members of the HFD will wear Class B uniforms with shrouded badges until he is laid to rest. Houston Mayor John Whitmire has requested flags at all City facilities to be flown at half-staff until further notice.

This tragic event marks the third body found in Houston bayous this week, raising concerns about safety in the area. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered the completion of the San Jacinto River Waste Pits cleanup, a move that is hoped to address some of these concerns.

In a heartwarming show of solidarity, Amazon shoppers are canceling Prime for a clever hack to save money, with the funds donated to the family of Firefighter Paramedic Scott. This gesture serves as a testament to the impact Scott had on his community and the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

As the city of Houston comes to terms with this loss, the focus remains on celebrating the life and service of Firefighter Paramedic Stephen Scott and supporting his family during this challenging period.
