55,000 Residents Told to Boil Water After Contamination Found in Kaufbeuren Area

Authorities in Kaufbeuren and surrounding communities have issued a boil water advisory, affecting around 55,000 residents. Routine checks revealed microbial contamination slightly above the limit in the affected areas.

The contamination stems from untreated surface water infiltrating the groundwater supply, which provides drinking water to the region. This infiltration has led to the issuance of the boil water advisory for Kaufbeuren, Pforzen, Rieden/Zellerberg, Friesenried, and Riederloh. Residents are advised to boil tap water used for drinking and cooking to ensure safety.

Consuming contaminated water can cause stomach upset, highlighting the importance of the boil water effect. Authorities are working to resolve the issue and restore clean water supply as soon as possible.

Approximately 55,000 people are currently affected by the boil water order. While the cause has been identified and measures are in place, residents are urged to follow the guidelines to protect their health. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
